BELLEVUE, Wash. (Jan. 29, 2026)—It’s with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Samir Bodas, our Co-Founder, long-time Chairman, following a courageous battle with cancer. This is a loss felt by many, and our thoughts are with Samir’s family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him personally.
Samir was a visionary entrepreneur and force of nature as a leader. From the company’s earliest days, he believed that Microsoft Cloud & AI services and contracts could become a source of clarity, trust, and value for organizations around the world. His conviction shaped not only a category-defining business but also touched the lives of thousands who learned from him, worked alongside him, and followed his example to create a culture rooted in core values.

Samir was born in Pune, India, and arrived in the U.S. in 1982 to pursue an undergraduate education at the University of Texas, Austin. He started his career as a software programmer at National Instruments. After graduating from Wharton Business School, Samir joined Microsoft in 1992, where he proudly held a variety of sales and marketing roles. Through the early 2000s, Samir pursued his passion for entrepreneurism at iMandi, Jamcracker, Disha Technology, and Aztecsoft. In 2009, he serendipitously met Monish Darda and together launched Icertis at the cusp of the cloud computing wave. And in 2015, with Manish Kedia, spun out CloudMoyo as the Icertis Microsoft Services and implementation partner.
Samir played a pivotal role in positioning Icertis as a leading company in contract intelligence and provided guidance to CloudMoyo in supporting customers through digital transformation. He emphasized the strategic importance of contracts within organizations, establishing contract intelligence as an essential system of record now relied upon by nearly 40% of Fortune 100 companies.
